Bangkok – Tana Netting donated 2,000 DawaPlus® insecticide-treated mosquito nets to the 2010 Pakistan Flood relief effort organized by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Dr. Apichart Chinwanno, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the donated supplies to H.E. Mr. Sohail Mahmood Ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand last week at the Royal Thai Air Force who delivered the goods to flood victims in Islamabad.

The flood, which occurred in August, was the worst flooding disaster in 21 years and continues to affect millions of people throughout Pakistan. Flooding can cause malaria outbreak which is one of the problems the flood victims are facing. Sleeping under an insecticide-treated mosquito net can alleviate their worries as it is one of the most effective tools in preventing malaria.

Tana Netting has collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on multiple projects in the past. More than 4,000 nets have reached developing communities in Asia and Africa as a result of the partnerships to highlight Thailand as a leader in malaria control.

    About Tana Netting
Tana Netting is the first and only company in Thailand to receive the World Health Organization’s recommendation for its DawaPlus® long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LNs).  LNs are one of the effective tools in combating malaria in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and South America.
Tana Netting’s unique end-of-the-line insecticide treatment method represents the most socially responsible production process of LNs in the industry. Unlike other products, DawaPlus®  LNs are treated only after they have been sewn, minimizing worker exposure to chemically-treated textiles. Further, the closed system ensures that no chemicals are released into the environment.
